As I sad we had a lot of luck, It is in the next community. Carehomes here havng a waiting time about 3 - 12 months. It feels still like the grandprize in a lottery.
However, a bad cold is slowing me down at the moment, which is annoying
How is it going on your side ?

Work, work, work. Even though part of the production plants are still down it has been super busy. Despite that, I do worry how long the site will still exist.
Fortunately, I haven’t caught any bugs so far. *knocks on wood*. Almost everyone else in my department has been sick lately though.

No doubt it’s a lot of work going through everything and sorting out what to keep and what not. It’s not an easy thing. I'm sure it also brings back a lot of memories.
Still, no time off for me yet, but I’m hoping my painter can finally start painting the outside of my house. In that case I need to take some time off to see to it that the cats won’t escape if there’s a window or door that needs to be open. I went on a bit of a shopping spree and ordered a new TV stand and wall storage for the living room. Hopefully they will arrive by the end of the month. Just thought it was time for a change there. Two of the current bookcases I have there will go to the loft to replace other furniture that is almost falling apart and one of my colleagues was interested in the 3rd bookcase. I told him he could have it for free if he just came to pick it up himself Also bought a new washing machine and dryer. After more than 20 years of duty the old ones can finally retire. The laundry didn’t come out as fresh as it used to lately and after trying multiple tricks in the book I guess it was better to replace everything. No doubt I’ll be saving a bit on water and electricity too.
In gaming news. Still playing the Banishers game. Other stuff kept coming in between. I noticed that Horizon Forbidden West is now available in the Epic Games Store. Still going to wait a bit before I get that one, but it’s something to look forward to. Oh and I also noticed another game that is currently being developed. Apparently there was already a cinematic reveal trailer at the Game Awards last year, but obviously I missed all that. Looks pretty cool though. The game is called Exodus and it’s science ficition action-adventure RPG. It will have a voiced protagonist and will also be customisable. Also one of the characters is voiced by Matthew McConaughey. It’s probably going to take a while till the game is released, but I can be patient! Now hurry up! Link to website: ClickCinematic trailer:

Well... what do you know? I am having some time off coming up really soon! After two years the painter has finally found the time to start painting the exterior of my house! And, if the weather permits it, he's starting next Monday. So please keep your fingers crossed, do a sun dance, pray to the weather gods or all of these options So only one more shift on Sunday and then I'm off until April 20. I'm hoping all of the paintwork will be done by then. Meanwhile, my new washing machine and dryer were delivered and installed yesterday! Already done 3 loads: started with the drapes and sheer curtains in the living room. The drapes have never been washed before, since they didn't fit in my old washing machine. I've had them for 16 years! But the drapes easily fit in this new badass 11 kg washing machine! So happy with it! The laundry also smells nice and fresh again! I think I'll be doing a lot of washing these next few weeks lol

Aaaand from yesterday's high, to today's low... Received a message from my supervisor today saying the whole site will be shut down permanently, so I'll be out of a job at some point this year Don't know all the details yet. The Site manager and HR manager will give a talk on monday, which is when the painter starts. Fantastic timing!

Gratulations to your new Washer And I cross my fingers for the paintwork. Actually I try to get my Mom's Appartment cleaned, still lots of paperwork, and Mom worries me. The Dementia alters her personality drastic and sometimes I even see MY Mon as she was, if you know what I mean. Depressed, aggresiv sometimes - just nothing like her Actually I play mostly Nightingale with friends. Its a really beautiful game with a lot of mysteries to solve. My mind needs to take a break every now and then

ladyaly : I suppose that’s the hardest thing. Seeing your mom become a whole different person. I guess you can only cherish the bright moments. Went to work today, but no one really knows anything concrete about the site closing. There’s the Q&A meeting tomorrow, but if management didn’t really have any solid answers yet last Friday, then I doubt they’ll have all the answers tomorrow. I thought about going, but on second thought I don’t fancy the 1+ hour round trip just to find out they still don’t have all the answers. Update: couldn't even have gone, because my dad couldn't babysit the cats to make sure they didn't escape if there was a door or window open.
Waiting for the company's "social plan" now.

The good news is that the paintwork is finished! The outside of the house is now looking all spiffy again with some fresh coats of paint and a new colour 😊 There were a few minor setbacks because of the weather, but in the end the painters finished the job on Thursday.
In the not so good work related news: There was a meeting today between my site’s management, the E.U. region’s management and the Works Council to discuss the closing of the site. The Workers Union representative organised a so-called “visibility demonstration” at the place where the meeting was held. About 40 people actually showed up and I was the only one there from my department, while 7 more could have attended. Poor ☹
In comparison there were plant operators who worked the night shift before and still showed up.
Apparently the applications for dismissal for 200+ people have already been filed as well…

That doesn't sound good. Do you think it affects you? I'll keep my fingers crossed that this is not the case. Congratulations on the freshly painted house I'm not doing so well as my mum is going downhill all the time. It's very stressful, especially mentally.

Wish I could say something that would make it easier, ladyaly *hug* The whole site is being closed, which means all of us will lose our jobs

No you can't - no one can. Dementia is for sure one of the most brutal ways to let you feel helpless
About your job - this is terrible, too. I hope you can find very soon a good new job, maybe with less stress

The good news is that there are plenty of jobs available at the moment. There were even multiple jobs available at a lab where my former, narcissist, supervisor now works The bad news is that in general the pay is really terrible. Good thing I recently had the house painted. That would make it at least easier to sell I know that beggars can’t be choosers, but for now I’m not applying to anything. At the moment I still have my job; I haven’t received an official letter of resignation yet and my employer has a 4 month notification period. So if I receive that letter tomorrow I’ll still get paid the next 4 months. The negotiations for a social plan haven’t started either and I’m waiting for the outcome of that. Hoping for a decent severance payment at least and a good effort from the company to help me get a new job. Heh, my sis notified me of a lab tech job at a brewery. Sadly a 1 hour and 20 minutes travel time is a bit too much from here. Oh bummer!

Hope things are at least a bit more stable, ladyaly. New update regarding the work situation. The negotiations for the social plan started last week and last Wednesday there was a follow-up meeting. The company's management shot down the draft version of the plan and according to the representative from the workers union the difference between what management would offer and the draft the workers union rep had written was too big to continue the negotiations. On Monday there's a meeting we can all attend where the union rep will explain things and afterwards members of the workers union can vote on whether we should take actions (like going on strike). I'm a member and will most likely vote for action.

Sadly not, some health issues added at my side.
I hope the work situation works well out in the end *fingers crossed*
