So I finished the first mission and am about to get on board of the Tempest for the first time...
I have to say that so far, despite the stripped down CC, I have been enjoying the game. Have to get used a bit to the combat in this game. And the jetpack is a cool feature.
As far as the squadmates are concerned. So far I quite like Liam. The banter between Ryder and him was fun. Definitely doesn't feel like another Jacob. Hope it stays that way. So far I'm liking Cora as well.
Sometimes I haven't a clue what I'm doing do though. Pressing some buttons here and there without knowing what it does... Not sure if that's the best way to go when dealing with alien devices, but then you'll never find out if you don't try I suppose.
The dialogue system is an improvement. And I like the fact that there are also keyboard shortcuts for the responses, but for some reason, the 6 key on the numerical pad isn't working. The plain 6 key does work, so it's kind of odd that it doesn't work on the numerical pad. And it's nice that once you've chosen a certain dialogue option it's greyed out, so you don't run the risk of repeating a question.
So far the only thing that really, really bugs me is the fact that it isn't possible to save the game when you want to (i.e. just before the start of a cutscene). It's really annoying having to revert back to a previous autosave and replay a part of the mission just to see the cutscene again. And if there are any items you picked up since the last autosave you might have to look for them again. I really hope they will fix that.

I still haven't played enough to make to really tell how I feel yet so I'll just list few things that really annoy me:
- Humans. The looks, animations, body proportions, hair... Also papa Ryder had really bad eye lash clipping. - Visuals are inconsistent. This game can looks really good and at times really bad (mostly thanks to above). - Voice acting combined with the animations feels really, really off. There's a reason why the internet is full of ME:A memes at the moment. - I don't like that they copied the DA:I like conversations system (as in no close up camera when talking in some conversations). - Audio mixing is a bit weird, many voices are too low. - Music? What music? - CC... - Some lines are full of clichés. - I probably end up hating the crafting system. In fact, many things feel rather complicated and unintuitive (the UI). - All that above hurts the immersion and doesn't capture me no where near as deeply as, say, ME2. - Not very well optimised. Example: Massive GPU usage in main menu without obvious reason (even with v-sync on).
Good things so far:
- Combat is improved. - It can look impressive - definitely thanks to Frostbite. - Conversation system is better than before. - So far I like Liam and Cora too even though she has rather weird grin all the time (different hair style would have suited her better too). - Now you can finally jump! - Currently I'm on Eos so barely started. So far I haven't spend much time on the Nexus yet.

Hmmm... personally I don't mind Cora's hairstyle. Btw she reminds me of Marie Fredriksson of the Swedish band Roxette.

Hmmm... the buying/selling items system is similar to DA:I's. It'd be nice to know which items that I pick up along the way can be sold safely.
Also changing the colours of one casual outfit apparently means that the colours of the other outfit change as well.

So far I haven't spend much time on the Nexus yet. I finished the main story. Despite numerous flaws, the game is fun. In fact, were this done by a lesser company I'd give a lot of the flaws a pass. That this game came from BioWare is a big disappointment as there are a LOT of quality issues. It feels like, in places, that the game just isn't finished. Will agree w/ everything Tup said. A former ME2 animator suggested that it was a quantity over quality issue. Not all, but a lot of the dialogue feels stiff and wooden, that coupled by funky animations just make the conversations lackluster, like Tup said. Not one companion, despite having far more dialogue, stacks up to any in the trilogy. Not to say they aren't good, but none are outstanding. I hate the main enemy, the Kett mostly because they are boring. As for story, I won't say much, but there is a 'been there, done that' feel to what's going on. I really like my Sara Ryder, except that she look exactly like a dozen others. lol. [/quote]

After the first couple of hours I like the game. The most things which bother me are the things Tup mentioned above. SO far I do not get really emotional evolved - let see if the game can change it later on. I really like the combat system, though. Its much more fluid and fun.

well a few glitches here and there . I end up with the Nomad almost falling on my head (it went trough the ground and fall down next to me)..while I was in a Vault . hahahaha...scared the hell out of me .
I also experienced a glitch white splash firing no stop .
But with the weird stuff aside , I'm in love with this game . I have a few stuff I feel like they are a Let down....but over all? I would say Thumb up .
The combat is gloriously fun! The last time I had this much fun , was in Swtor doing Heroic +4 (when they were still a thing) with peoples who know how to play ! getting swarmed and seeing your group handle them and going in sync with you..just a blast to watch .
climbing ! the Jet is awesome ! I love it . (and here I went all snob at first..forgive mehh lol)
The romance . I'm not picky . fade to black or not . I played Baldur's Gate 2 and you know what ? all the romances were with tiny characters and fade to black .And nobody complained about it back then . Hell , nobody complained that the game was for dude..and if you play a female...you get screwed .
The vilains , well......I was afraid we get cornyphallus v2.0 . But turn out it isn't . So I'm happy with that . When I want an impressive vilain , I go read Mangas . Maybe BW should read some ? lol
The cc suck . But...they are planning on fixing it . So until they bail...I'm gonna give them a chance .
The dialogue , some say it's cringe worthy . Me? I'm laughing my ass off . There are a few dialogues it just so hilarious .
I love my Ryder . I feel like this game is being bullied like DA2 did . It's a Gem on it's own . it isn't supposed to be a sequel to ME 1, 2, 3 .
It does feel like ME1 but improved . Yet peoples are whining . Oh ME2 was the best ! Pfff...the best for you . Not for me .
One let down would be..that we only meet one new specie . Which was kinda surprising . I though the Galaxy of Andromeda was bigger and had more species . So where are they ? I do love the Angara . They are so beautiful .
Another let down would be....I though we were gonna colonize 7 planets no? I only counted 4 . So where are my others 3 planets ? lol
So in conclusion.....This is the best Gift I received woot!

I wonder if there are games that don't have glitches these days. alexiarevan : apart from the romance "fading to black" I hope the relationship progress was at least what you hoped for. Sadly there were people who already had issues with the game before it was even released and a fair number of people will never change their mind about something. For some reason this trend to complain about everything seems to be getting worse these days Looking forward to see what the patch will be doing. And it's good to know they're at least looking into adjusting the CC and characters' hair. www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2017/04/04/bioware-details-upcoming-fixes-for-mass-effect-andromeda.aspx

well , I find that the 'companions'' seem to talk more outside a romance (as in talk to each others , talk about main quest and stuff)..in comparaison to say...how many dialogue you get while in romance .
Maybe it is the same amount of dialogue . It isn't like I was counting them . You can only flirt after every priority (main mission)...so thats not alot .
But that is fine with me , because they do talk ALOT outside of the romance .
Hoped for ? I wanted Vetra and I got her and she is perffffffffect ! I could gush over her for hours and make ya brain bleed lol
Yeah tell me about it . My friend shinie said (he was joking ) that EA must not have paid the reviewer this time around..cose everyone is whining and the game (back then) wasn't out yet .
Make you wonder , what's the core of the issue . I mean , is it really that bad ? or the peoples themself are the issue here ?
fanatism lead to not accepting changes .
And I think everything change . And humans have showed so far , they want everything set in stone . Which is odd , considering our own personaly physiology can change over time . I mean we start small and grow .
So it's so weird to think about it .
I like to think that the issue is on both side . BW and EA created this monster..and this monster is unhappy with his diet . Hence the growling .

That reads like monthly report or weekly studio update from one of CIG's studios. That would be just fine during the development EXCEPT they decided to launch the game in a condition that made SEVERE damage to EA's reputation and BioWare brand (though this BioWare doesn't really have anything to do with the orginal). Let's be totally honest here: compared to many other games that have launched recently, this is is by far the most unpolished game that has launched recently. There are lots of bugs and quality issues. Bugs and quality issues aside I'd say that this is rather mediocre game. They knew what made ME2 for example so great, what when wrong with DA:I and what wasn't that great in ME1. Yet it looks like they picked exactly the things that most don't like. There are definitely issues when it comes to directing and story telling - especially when you compare this to previous Mass Effect games. The contrast is huge thus fans are extremely disappointed. They should set the bar much higher and not aim for mediocrity. I'm sure that they know very well that this is not a masterpiece. I'm not saying that people can't enjoy this but there's no reason to sugar coat things either. For their next game they really need to step up.

yeah?
So what made ME2 so great ?
what went wrong with DAI ?
And what wasn't so great in ME 1 ?
how one decide what is great anyway ? I'm told 'Sales'' tell us if a game is great .But is that true ?
I mean , Look at Skyrim . hell look at the elder scroll serie....sold like alot . And yet , for me..it's soo boring . well save for Oblivion , but like fallout serie..they all had the same thing I didnt like . hence I start and never finish the game .
and I dunno . How can you trust sale anyway ? I mean , you can sell X for alot . doesn't mean it's great now .
Take Swtor latest expansion . BW keep saying it's a great Success . yet their forum is polluted by peoples complaining about it . They keep saying (BW) that the game is great and still running fine and bringing in the money . Yet you won't see the shadow of said Money , when it come to bugs and stuff . They dont fix anything , they havent fixed Bugs that were there still since launch . But hey , let's take their words for it..that Swtor is still doing great and it's a success .
If one say a game is a success and is bringing in the money . If you don't put the money in said game to FIX IT . May as well go politciens . cose that sound like a Lie down the line .
That's why all the prize DAI got....came off to me like they were a lie and brough out by EA . I don't know if a big corp like EA buy review and such and I don't care . I got the game and played it and know how I feel about it .

Different Tastes - different meanings ...different likes.
I love Swotr including the expansion, btw. And I loved DA:I - more then 1000+ hrs of gameplay proof it. Even if it wasn't as good as DA:O.
With Andromeda I got the problem that it not touched me emotionally yet - lets hope it changes - since I still playing and still a lot to do.
@alexiaraven I adore your new Ryder- she looks great !
Agreed - whole hearted ! This is why I avoid to read Forums !

yeah? So what made ME2 so great ? Superior acting, better animations, better writing, better directing, better pacing, CC was actually better overall, superior soundtrack, better story, better quests, much more interesting characters that makes you more interested in them. It was also much more polished when it launched and visually it was much more consistent game (ME:A is all over the place). If I'd had to rate ME2 I'd give it 9,5 out of 10. ME:A would be 7 out of 10 at best. it's just superior package overall. You see, I was hoping for cinematic story driven game like the previous ME games but instead they gave use single player MMO (which actually does things worse than MMOs). ME1's biggest flaw was super low quality planet exploration and mineral hunting. It felt like someone played a bit with Unreal Editor and placed some random objects here and there. In ME2 even the side quests were really nice. In ME:A and DA:I there are shitloads of super low quality fetch quests that are on par with generic MMOs. In ME:A exploring doesn't feel that rewarding at all thus it ends up being boring. In ME2 it was quality over quantity, in ME:A and DA:I it was the other way around (in everything - from conversations to quests). The problem is that I feel bored while playing those games. I finished Havarl and there wasn't anything interesting happening. Heck, you get even better cinematic story experience out of SWTOR (and even the fetch quests are generally higher quality). Everything feels just so distant (even literally, partly thanks to that stupid conversation camera). There's just too much low quality filler stuff. I'm still quite early in the game and I hope things get better. So far I've had serious problems getting attached to my Ryder and squad mates. Also in the beginning (or so far) they haven't given nearly enough reasons to hate the Kett which really makes it hart to get emotionally invested in this game. So, yeah. I'm really disappointed and I hope that the patches help at least a little bit. It's rather hard to be positive since this doesn't excel in any particular area. This does have some really glaring issues that overshadow positive ones. (I also hope they do something to that claustrophobic FOV when you pull your gun - it really hurts the combat.)

how one decide what is great anyway ? I'm told 'Sales'' tell us if a game is great .But is that true ? Agreed. If sales is a marker for quality... There are tons of artists, tv programs and what not out there that bring in lots of cash, but to say that they're all high quality
