Despite not running at full capacity, work’s still been extremely busy these past couple of months. A lot of sick people (some long term) and some people were pulled away from the shifts to work on special projects. I finally have a couple of days off work and some more following next month, but it feels pretty crappy knowing that my colleague has to work alone. The hired temps we had haven’t helped to relieve things either. One of them was let go early because of not being able to stick to procedures. The other one is still injured from the incident back in July. My dad’s been doing okay. Finally finished building the model Vikingship my sis and I got him for Christmas last year AND he’s already started on a new ship model! He went to his final group therapy session two weeks ago and last week was also the last day that someone from the crisis management team visited him. I’m not entirely sure if this is the right thing to do, so fingers crossed! On the other hand, my mom’s not been doing so great these past few months. Mostly feeling tired and out of breath from even the slightest exertion. When she finally went to see her doctor she was referred to see a pulmonologist because the oxygen saturation level in her blood was too low. Turned out she had multiple embolisms in her lungs. They first wanted to keep her at the hospital, but ended up sending her home with a recipe for blood thinners, which should help dissolve the embolisms. I guess they really needed the bed… ~o~o~o~
On a brighter note: Yesterday Streamily hosted the N7 Day Panel! The guy who usually moderates the panel was sick, so Jennifer sacrificed herself to do the job. There was a bit of chaos when they couldn't add Steve Blum to the meeting at first lol Other than that it was great to reminisce Pretty much the usual participants: Jennifer Hale Mark Meer Ali Hillis Kimberly Brooks Raphael Sbarge Ash Sroka Courtenay Taylor William Salyers Steve Blum D.C.Douglas Alix Wilton Regan I love that they're still doing this Link to stream

Actually I am also very busy, husband got a heavy flue and well, unavoidable - I got it, too Problem if you work from home - you just work, Sick or not.
Glad to hear your Dad is going better, but your Mom sounds really not good. I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of them

Thanks. The odd thing is that she's already been taking blood thinners for quite some time for something else. I can sort of get that someone might still end up with the odd embolism, but multiple ones really don't make sense to me? Admirable to still be working from home, but I'm not sure if I'd be doing much work from home if I got sick. First of all it's because I can't really work from home. Even if it's just writing or verifying analytical procedures. There are always moments you need to check on things that you can't do from home unless you bother your colleagues to check those things for you. Other than that I feel that if you are sick then you are sick and you just need that little time for yourself to recover. I realise that even more especially after my burnout. And it's not like I'm opposed to do a little extra. I'll happily stay a bit longer after my shift ends if there's a problem. But there is a limit. And with the shortage of staff that limit is only more clearer.

Having 2 weeks off from work. But working again this Xmas. Not been doing much. Some cleaning, some pestering the cats, some gaming, some catching up on some tv shows and visiting my parents. It was also time for my cats' health check and vaccination. They are both doing well. They both only gained about 0.1 kg since their health check last year. Supposedly Shep has some light gum inflammation, so I'll be keeping that in check. My pet groomer, who's a former paraveterinary assistant, always checks for this too, but she didn't see this last month. My birthday was last month as well. Usually would celebrate it at home, but this time went out for dinner with my parents, sis, uncle and aunt. It was especially nice because my aunt was also able to attend after the roller coaster with the pancreatic cancer. A few weeks ago she had her last chemo treatment! The restaurant was pretty nice too. Shared dining concept. Small dishes, but after 3 or 4 dishes you wouldn't even miss the french fries or baked potatoes! Never been there before, but it had some good reviews. Definitely worth repeating As far as work is concerned they finally let go of the remaining temp worker. Her contract was supposed to end at the end of this month, but they didn't want to risk another incident... She was back for a few days after 4 months of absence after the incident and was only allowed to work 4 hours every other day. It was hopeless. Colleague ended up having to reanalyze everything she did, because the results she produced made no sense at all. Supposedly she has a university degree in chemistry. Well so much for that...

Oh well, happy birthday - a late one...
I have really some bad stuff on my hands. My mum had a bad fall at 3 am in the night 5/6.12.. Two days later her pain was so terrible strong that we had to take her to hospital. Fractured lumbar vertebrae - immediate operation as there was a risk of paraplegia. The operation went well, this Tuesday she was coming home. But she needs care. Unfortunately my Sis got pretty sick with Covid - The care service only comes twice a day - we have to manage the rest somehow. She's still terribly confused in the head and can hardly remember anything. No Idea how it will end .... just right now I think from day to day

Sorry to read about the incident with your mom, ladyaly Hopefully things will improve for her soon and that the confusion is also temporary. I imagine all the stress and medication also contributes a lot to this. Btw my colleague’s mom also had a bad fall a couple of months ago and she too experienced memory loss afterwards. It did get better after some time though, so there is hope at least.
Hope you manage keep things afloat and take care of yourself as well.

Merry Christmas to you too. Hope you at least managed to make something out of it.
I went back to work again yesterday: late shifts, so missing out on the holidays again. Working early shift on New Year’s day. Looking forward to the lack of sleep again 😪
At least working isn’t so bad with one radio channel’s yearly event where they play the top 2000 songs that listeners got to vote for. They play the number one of the list just before midnight on the December 31.
One of the radio station's DJ’s has been kicking off the event for the last 7 years with a mash-up of several songs. This was the one he kicked the event off with yesterday. I got goose bumps watching it:

Not been around much lately, so I hope all is well. Took a break from gaming and caught up on some TV shows on HBO Max instead. I’ve finally started watching True Detective. An older show, but there’s a new season now with Jodie Foster. Still have to watch that one though. Also, if I want to spend some time on my PC one of my cats now wants to watch Cat TV on YouTube… The other day she spent over an hour sitting in front of my screen to watch birds, mice, squirrels and chipmunks Nowadays, as soon as I turn on the PC she jumps on my desk. More or less demanding I turn on Cat TV for her lol Maybe I should get a second screen just for the cats…
Also having a bit of a reorganisation going on at work, because of the plant that was shut down due to the high energy and raw material prices. So we’re going from 3 people per shift down to 2. At least no one is getting fired, but not looking forward to working alone when your colleague is not available.

I have my hands full with the care for my Mom. the situation with my Mom is... difficult to deal with. She is showing signs of rapidly progressing dementia and my heart is bleeding. There's not much we can do and it's just awful. Glad you're situation has a bit improved

Short Update: We had the outrageous luck to get a care place in a new beautiful carehome for mom. The last couple of weeks we looked after her all around the clock, as she could no longer be alone. It was at the mental and physical breaking point. Now we still have to clear out her apartment and do tons of paperwork. I hardly had any time to play.

Some good news, ladyaly . No doubt it’s all still a hard thing to go through, but at least there’s a little less pressure to deal with now. Hope the care home isn’t too far away either, so that it's easy to still visit her regularly.
