A Plague Tale: Innocence. I bought this game a while ago. Pre-ordered it, actually. Which I know is not the smartest thing to do these days, but it did seem like a decent and interesting game when I saw some of the gameplay. After her family's estate gets overrun by Inquisition soldiers, Amicia and her little brother Hugo are on the run. They not only have to avoid the soldiers, but also hordes of rats and villagers who blame Hugo for the rat plague. This launch trailer explains it a bit more, but might contain spoilers: So far I've made it to the 6th chapter of this game (out of 17). It's a pretty dark game, which shows in the graphics. They look great, though, and so far the story's been quite captivating as well. They really help create the dark atmosphere in the game. The voice acting is more than decent as well!
According to Wikipedia it's an action-adventure horror stealth game, but I haven't been too fazed with the horror part, but that could just be me heh. The game mostly focuses on stealth and trying to solve puzzles to make your way through the hordes of rats and sneaking past the enemy soldiers. There's a bit of combat in it as well and your only weapon is a sling, which you also have to use to solve some of the puzzles in order to make your way through this world. The sling can be upgraded during the course of the game by using some of the materials you gather on your way. I guess that so far the only negative thing for me to say about it is the lack of an option to save your progress. The game saves your progress automatically, but there's no option to go back a bit and replay something.
Some screenshots:
The game has photo mode too btw, but Nvidia's Ansel also works.

Looks really not bad ! Very nice shots as always. Still I do not consider to play it. Horror games or even near horror would add too much adrenalin to my - anyway - messed up sleeping times.

Honestly, I thought there were scarier moments in Mass Effect and AC Odyssey if you ask me. This is one of the last things I'd lose sleep over. Maybe to people who have a phobia for rats it can be considered horror.

Mmmh.. yes I guess you are right. I have no phobia for rats - only spiders. Spiders are a real horror - this is why I hesitate to buy the Jedi Game. It has really really huge ugly Spiders. Even if gaming did help me to be not so scared anymore - there was a time I got icy hands and my heart rate got up to 200 with a rugged breath - I still have the damn phobia. Maybe one day I will buy this game, though. Depends on your experience and if I have the time for it

ladyaly: I suppose running into the rachnii in Mass Effect couldn't have been much fun if spiders really make one panic. Glad gaming helped you being less scared. I guess I'd wait until it is on sale if you ever buy it. It's not a very long game. About 15 hours for completionists, so I guess that's not too much of a time sink.

19 hours in and I've made it to Chapter 15, so I suppose I'm nearing the end. Still enjoying this game a lot. At some point you get to play as Hugo for a bit as well, which is fun, but also a little tricky. As I mentioned before you can't save the game manually if you want to replay certain bits, but apparently it is possible to replay a chapter once you have completed it. A couple more screenshots:

Thanks Yes, poor Hugo is sick. But despite that he plays a huge role in the story. Chapter 16 for me now. The finish line is in sight! The previous chapter and the first part of this one are an exercise in frustration for me lol Not giving up yet though. Dealing with enemies isn't that easy since you can only use your sling. Screw up and you can't just hack and slash your way out of it, so it requires more finesse. EDIT: I just finished the game. Woohoo!!! It took me about 23.5 hours to finish my playthrough. Though I should say that my cat did distract me on more than a few occasions... Mostly during boss fights btw Photo mode can take up some time as well I suppose, although I can't use that as an excuse since I didn't use it that often. To use it you have to go to the main menu while playing. It does work during cutscenes though...
The story is quite compelling, the graphics and characters look great and the voice acting is solid. Quite impressive since (according to IMDb) some of the main characters don't seem to have a lot of experience yet, so lots of kudos to them Also some who were in other games I played before. (DA: Inquisition, The Witcher 3)
I thought the boss fights were challenging. There aren't that many, but they all need a different approach.
In short: I definitely recommend this game.

Some screenshots other characters in the game: Other than going back to ACO I'm not sure what to play next. Wondering if The Outer Worlds is something worthwhile playing...

The screenies are good as always - love them all.
About Outer Worlds - I read it should be a pretty good game - but looks like a first person game - which I clearly not like. I will see how the new Star Wars game goes.
Until then I play the new DLC's from Elder Scrolls further and especially the new Onslaught DLC from SWtoR - its a very well done DLC btw. I really love it so far !

Thanks, ladyaly Glad those DLC's are not letting you down. About The Outer Worlds: I'm not much of a fan of first person games either. I read that this was done for budgetary reasons, which is kinda sad. Also no voiced player character, which is also something that irks me. Another thing I find weird is that the game does have a character creator, but I kind of fail to see the point of that if you can only see what your character looks like in the Inventory screen? Still, might be a good game. I'll think about getting it. Maybe wait till it's on sale...

If you love to play heavy story- and textbased games which don't need awesome graphics .... There is a little indie game I played. Its called Demonheart. The second part is maybe coming out at the end of the month. I loved the game - I think ( its rather short ) I played it 5 times in a row to get all the different endings and still not sure if I got all www.rollingcrown.com/demonheart/

ladyaly: I checked out the Demonheart game, but I think I prefer a bit more action? Need to release all that work stress somehow...
Two other games I'm currently considering:
The first one is Greedfall, which is a third person action RPG. It has a character creation menu and it's possible to play as a male or female character. Player characters are voiced too.
Someone suggested I play Red Dead Redemption II, since that was released for the PC recently. Downside is that you can only play as a male character. But if the story makes up for it, then it might be worth considering for me... PC version currently seems to have quite a few issues, so I'll wait and see how that all evolves...

Oh - okay I understand. Its really a heavy textbased game with a lot of puzzles Greedfall looks not bad at all ! Since I'm not a big fan of Western stories and such stuff - Red Dead Redemption isn't mine for sure
