Nice... It's basically the same story from another perspective - you create your own character. Character generator is quite decent. You can chat with your squad companions and get to know them better. How you answer will affect how they like you. Conversations system is a mix of Mass Effect, SWTOR and DA:O.

Sadly my Japanese sucks. Cool graphics though In the first picture that blonde guy picked my diary and gave it back. The player character accidentally dropped it - the diary is basically your info book and log. That was kinda introduction to it. He's Hannes. It shows (sigh, ? ??) because he hasn't introduced himself yet. The text goes basically like this: "I see, be careful and do not drop it again. Hmm... You are... in 104th Training Corps, right." and the options are - "Thank you very much."
- "Who are you?" (not in a very polite way, considering that he's higher ranking)
- "You are in the Garrison Crops?"
In the second pic the left button is just an option for stopping after the conversation so that you have to press a key to continue (if you want to read the subtitles) and on right there's skip button. English UI and subtitles are coming this Tuesday but it seems that I can just about manage. Let this be another learning experience... I have "wasted" 19 A5 40 sheet notebooks for Japanese so at this point I do know a thing or two. That work is showing - I can actually understand stuff now.

It definitely was worth it then.
Never thought about it much, but playing games like that is a handy way to not forgot the things you've learned. I've had a bit of German and French, but since I never really use it the French is almost all gone. Then again I wasn't very interested in learning it at the time, which is like 30 years ago.

It's actually a really good way to learn. You get to read and listen to at the same time. Then you also get the visual context which helps you to remember (games force you to interact and act accordingly). I played Shadow of War (and Steins;Gate, obviously) with English UI but with Japanese voices - quite handy. Also the voice acting culture is on another level in Japan so the quality is usually great.
Most boys here in Finland probably learn English thanks to games. Games do make rather massive difference.
We are forced to learn Swedish (and obviously English) here in Finland on top of Finnish. I really hated Swedish though. So useless, all thanks to 5% minority population. So yeah, I can at least understand it up to a certain point. It's so rusty now that my Japanese might be better.
I did learn a bit of German and even though my grandfather was a German, my German skills are basically non-existant.

I didn't like French much, so I didn't pay too much attention. And then you grow older and wish you had...

スウェーデン語が大嫌い。And that's not going to change - really, I'm old enough to realise that it's utterly useless for me.

I don't know. You never know when it might come in handy.
I once spent some time with a group of people who mainly spoke French. That's when I wished I'd paid attention in class. Makes you feel rather isolated if you can't really take part in the conversation.

I did learn is for, what, 5 years? So even if I'd like to say that I don't know sheit about it any more it might not be entirely accurate. It's only spoken in Sweden and Finland so the use cases are limited (no matter how much they tried to brain wash us in school). Also, Swedes speak English just fine. Also I had enough problems with just one Germanic language (honestly, my English isn't that great - that being said my Finnish grammar has always sucked too). Learning English, Swedish and German at the same time was something that my brain couldn't handle very well. Especially Swedish and German at the same time was confusing.

Your English isn't that bad either. I've seen English speakers write worse.
Yup, the mind can only handle so much information at once. I've only had 2 years of French and one year of German. Dropped those as soon as I could.
Plus in the end there were only 6 subjects I could pick for my final exam. So I chose Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Math in addition to Dutch and English, which were compulsory.

I choose Finnish, English, History and long mathematics in the matriculation examination. Surprisingly English was my strongest subject.... I had totally wrong approach to tests in upper secondary school. It worked really well for individual tests but backfired badly in the matriculation examination. Realised too late that same tactic wouldn't work when you have to go through all those zillion books. Oh well... Apparently Steins;Gate Elite is coming soonish. It's basically a remastered version of the original and using animations and graphics from the anime. Sure, the art direction is slightly different but the animations should help getting the emotions through. --- My character received a haircut. Full look without combat gear. Getting scolded, because overslept (...there was supposed to be a morning training). Reusing SWTOR family name here. Her first name is Karen. Also slightly difference colour scheme for her outfit than the stock, because that looks cooler.

Cool haircut Not so cool to oversleep I haven't gotten around to watch anything interesting lately. Started playing a new game though. Will write a bit about it later.

Did I mention The Expanse is back. And did I mention that I really love this show? It's got pretty badass character, including pretty badass female characters. And to top it all of it's got a pretty badass power armor worn by an even more badass female character... And the first 2 seasons are on Netflix here too I noticed. Also don't forget it's got auntie Raan in it too
