Well, I did it... Last night I caved in and I ended up getting GreedFall (instead of The Outer Worlds). I’ve been playing it for about 3.5 hours now, so I can’t say too much about it yet; all I’ve been doing is running around doing quests in the city where you first start. Some of these quests do place you in a dilemma and I wonder what impact the choices will have in the long run. I feel that sometimes even if you try to do the right thing other choices/actions will prevent you from getting the task done at all, so it will be interesting to see how it pans out. First impressions: The game has a Character Creation menu, but it is rather simple: You can choose to play as a male or female character and choose from a number of presets. These presets can be modified a little, but the only things you can change are the shape of the face, skin colour, hairstyle, hair colour, eyebrow shape and eye colour. There are 3 classes you can play as: Warrior, Technical and Magic. When you choose to play as one class you can obtain skills from the other classes as you level up. Progress can be saved and there are multiple save slots. Hurray! There are chests that can be looted, enemy corpses that can be looted for gold, crafting items or gear. Gear can be upgraded, bought or sold from/to vendors, and since the gear you obtain has a certain quality I assume you can also repair it (when you have the skills)? Apparently the game also has a few romance options. Graphically the scenery in the game does look good. Sadly the game doesn’t have a photo mode to capture all of this Not sure what to say about the animation in this game. Running around just seems strange. It feels more like stomping around. Guess I’ve been too spoiled with AC:O’s animations. Walking’s a bit better, but then it takes ages to get somewhere. Guess I've been too spoiled with AC Odyssey's animations.
Combat takes a bit of getting used to. Can’t dodge attacks by rolling to the side for instance. Maybe that becomes possible after further upgrading your skills? Even then it is odd that you can’t do this from the beginning. Some screenshots: The main character: I’ll just dub her Cassie De Sardet. She looks quite stern most of the time...An impression of the scenery. Photo mode is surely missed.
Kurt: one of your companions and possible LI.

Looks interesting. Is that a scar on her neck ? and yes she looks pretty stern. Thx for sharing and keep posting

Thanks ladyalyIt's not a scar, but a manifestation of some mysterious disease.

Well, here’s a funny coincidence… Last night I found out that female De Sardet’s voice actress is Cassie Layton. I swear I didn’t know this before I named my character! Just a few more screenshots...
Two more companions:
Vasco is the captain of the ship that takes you to Teer Fradee, the island that your people have colonised. Síora is one of the native people on the island. She also has those weird markings. Interesting...Both are also possible to romance. Each companion has a specific quest they want help with. I read that there are 5 companions in total. Haven't come across the others yet.

ladyaly : I’m starting to get the hang of it a little Your basic weapon is a melee weapon (swords/heavy blunt weapons). You can carry two of those and switch between them using a shortcut. Actions like hitting and parrying can be done with using your mouse.
You can also use a rifle, but to fire it at a (selected) target you only need to choose the Rifle action from the tactical pause menu. There’s no aiming involved when shooting it. Actions from the tactical pause menu can also be binded to the keyboard keys 1 through 0. Some examples of the actions are: Kick, Roll, Fury attack, Fire rifle, Use of a potion. Currently I configured my game in a way that I need to press “1” if I want to fire the rifle or “4” if I want to use a minor health potion. Hope this gives you some idea. EDIT because I'm an eejit O_o Not really keeping up with the news anymore these days, but a colleague of mine pointed out some news about a new Mass Effect being in development. Way early, but still...

Oh yes... sounds a little cumbersome and bumpy for my taste.
Keep the shots and information rolling - I'm curious what happened. I'll return to Skyrim to finish it before I think about a new game.

Just found out it is possible to turn off the user interface in the options menu, which means I can make some screenshots without the game's information in them Still no photo mode, but it's something at least. Also in case you missed it check the edited bit of my previous post. My rambling may make more sense now...

Yeah, they definitely did a good job with the scenery. There's a day/night cycle too, so you would be able to get some really great screenshots in the right lighting if you're patient enough. I read that there's a camera tool (created by Frans Bouma) that works for this game. I'd try it, but I don't want to ruin my game at this point. Should work for AC:Odyssey and the Star Wars game that you've been playing, ladyaly. Meanwhile I've played this game for about 20 hours now. According to howlongtobeat.com it takes about 40 hours if you play the main story and the extras and 50 hours if you're a completionist. We'll see... It usually takes me longer than this though.

Thanks ladyaly I haven't even talked to her much. They all want something and there's only so much multi-tasking you can do... Made quite a bit of progress with the main story last night until there was a twist that I didn't see coming. It would mean not being able to finish one of the sidequests though. So I ended up reloading an older save.

Reloading the older save paid off. It also changed the scene with the plot twist. There've been a few more objectives that I failed. I wonder if they'll bite me in the ass later heh. I really wish this game would give you an idea of the progress you made. I have no idea where I'm currently at. I've completed two of the companion sidequests now and part of the third. I mentioned the odd combat system earlier and how it wasn't possible to dodge an attack. It does turn out that this becomes possible after an upgrade of your skills. Also jumping across a small gap is something that can be attained through spending skill/ability points. It really makes no sense why I should be spending skill or ability points on things that should more or less come natural to someone who had combat training. Still, the boss fights have beein doable so far, but still... A tiny bit more of the scenery:

Again very nice screenshots GroundSquirrelI think it is a bit unfortunate that you don't have any idea about your progress. I did read some critics about this game - most of them mention this. It had could be a absolute highlight of a game, but failed in a lot of minor and simple thing they say.
