Cinematic Trailer for Assassin's Creed Valhalla was released yesterday:
Now why does it remind me of Vikings?

Well, shock-horror! I pre-ordered it! Possible to play as a female charachter - check! Single player - check! Interactive dialogues - check! Cool bird companion (a raven this time) - check! And who knows? Maybe we can play as a nice viking, by just knocking everyone out instead of killing them... If it's ony half as good as Odyssey I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy this one too, hence my reason for pre-ordering it.

Hmm... Not sure how well they manage integrate AC lore in this. One thing is certain though: My PC need an upgrade... Now that I think about it, my CPU is actually EIGHT years old.

At this point I don't really care about the lore as long as the story is good I guess. I checked and on the Ubisoft forum people were already complaining about the usual stuff: a female protagonist doesn't fit in with history blah blah blah.
As long as the CPU is still sufficient enough to do what you want with it?

Well - you can only pay it from Ubi right ? no Steam ?
Damn the Ubi Support is so bad - Steam has a huge base and you can find all sorts of problems solved atleast. So this is a point against the game.
Since I didn't play AC before Odysee , story connection to the old AC isn't much of a concern to me.

Steam is fixing critical bugs for games that they didn't develop? Wow!
I guess no game will ever be flawless, but still... And I know about your game breaking bug and I know it sucks, because I've encountered one in The Witcher 3. Even after going back 3 days worth of saves the game kept crashing at a point that I manage to reach after a lot of frustrations. And at this point I felt I should start from scratch, but because I put in so many hours already all hope was lost lol It was quite a bit after the big battle at Kaer Morhen, so a pain in the behind to go through all of that again. If they released another Witcher game I still might get it though.
I've now put over 1000 hours (third playthrough) into AC Odyssey and have encountered one bug that caused me to reload a save that was quite a bit earlier. Thankfully I managed to continue after that without any problems. And during all of the hours that I've been playing this game I tried to see how certain decisions turned out by reloading certain parts and replaying them, so I might have steered for bugs to happen, but despite all the messing about and the one bug the game has been pretty solid for me. The only major annoyance for me was the LotFB DLC, because it totally ignored the choices you made earlier.
I am assuming that Ubisoft does try their best to fix all of the bugs, but it may not always be possible to replicate one, because, you know... computers... And yeah, I know they could have handled it better. You were quite unlucky with your bug, so let's hope they learnt from this.
I'm willing to give this a go, because how many games are out there that are like this?

Steam isn't fixing the game, but the people are posting a lot in the forums which is helpfully and solves 90 % of the bugs. I did find a bug fix for the Witcher 2 there. Gladly so far all 3 games did run smoothly for me. Its just as you said - Computers Not sure which games coming out in 2020 beside Cyberpunk ( not sure if I play that one because its a first person thing, far as I know ) - so maybe I give AC a go. I need to research what the release date are.

AC Valhalla's release is holidays 2020.
The Cyberpunk game in September, so there's plenty of time I guess.

Wonder if it might be around the same time as AC Odyssey was released? And that was in October.
Apparently you can also visit Stonehenge in AC Valhalla, so I wonder if they'll implement a discovery tour with this game as well. There's going to be a gameplay reveal for Xbox tomorrow.

As long as the CPU is still sufficient enough to do what you want with it? It probably won't be... Consoles are Zen2 8 cores and 16 threads. In other words, if game makes full use of that power, ancient quad core probably isn't going to last for long.

Tup: ultimately it depends on how much you demand from your PC no? I doubt that the new AC game will not be playable at all with my current build (December 2016) It was a whole new system, save for a couple of hard drives that I transferred from my old PC for extra storage I might look into upgrading the CPU an GPU before building a whole new PC, which I hope I don't have to do in the next 3 or 4 years Currently I believe the Intel's i9 9900 CPU would still be a viable option since it's compatible with my mainboard. Figure if it's time to replace my mainboard I might as well start thinking about building a whole new PC...

Figure if it's time to replace my mainboard I might as well start thinking about building a whole new PC... I've noticed problems in AC:Odyssey. Although now that I has 1440p display, my GPU is causing more issues so the CPU can keep up. GTX 1070 is still really nice for 1080p, but anything higher... not really. It obviously can't do anywhere near 165 fps in new games (my display has adaptive sync so the experience is rather nice even when fps fluctuates and is no where near the max). Even 2080 Ti would have some hard time churning out 165 frames per second all the time. Well, it actually can get rather close at 1440p - to a point where CPU is bottleneck. I never would have thought that this mobo, cpu and ram would have lasted for this long. I must say that something like Ryzen 3900X would be rather massive upgrade. Video encoding speed would skyrocket... Also when brute forcing pngs in large batches. The speedup would be huge. I'll likely buy GPU first though and then see how bad the CPU bottleneck really is. Frame times are likely going to be all over the place. It's a good thing that I did go with i7 3770K since it has hyper threading - it's now paying off.

Heh 165 a second seems nice and all, but is it something I can't live without?

Heh 165 a second seems nice and all, but is it something I can't live without? I've actually never had to use 60Hz display at home. When I had CRT, I always used higher than 60Hz (because that was pure torture for eyes thanks to flickering) and on top of that 60 Hz never felt smooth. On desktop dragging the windows and scrolling web pages feels just so horrible. I consider 75 Hz absolute minimum for LCD refresh rate. I can live with lower refresh rate in games (adaptive sync helps a lot) but even still, when things start to clearly drop below 60 Hz it's not very nice.
