Tup: I saw one story offering a copy of AC Valhalla with some component. Probably the Ryzen 3800/3900 something series, because the upcoming 5000 series CPU's aren't listed yet. Seems those CPU's are now bundled with a copy of Far Cry 6 here. I've been to London on several occasions. The first was a three day trip organised by school. Must have been about 16 years old then. Apart from that I went there for a couple of concerts and to meet up with some friends at the time. I miss those days. OT: started watching a Finnish tv series on Netflix the other day: Karppi (Deadwind). So far it seems interesting enough. But the only Finnish words I know are "hali" and "kiitos", so at times it's hard to follow since I find subtitles rather distracting. I'll try to stick with it though.

I'd like to know how and where you picked that one. Also it's colloquial language (as in, informal language), written standard language (formal language) word would be slightly different ('halaus'). Finnish doesn't have anything in common with Germany, English or Swedish so those subtitles are surely helpful... I've been used to reading subtitles all my life. They only dub stuff when target audience are small kids.

Tup. It was from a girl from Espoo. I knew her from a chat I frequented at the time. We were both fans of the same band and I got to meet her (and a whole bunch of other people from that chat) in Dublin, for a concert. She probably mentioned "halaus" too, but it was over 20 years ago. But I always remembered that "hali" was the more endearing term Subtitles are helpful, but reading them is interfering with what I'm trying to watch. Very annoying. In programs with the English language I barely even notice the subtitles, but but when watching programs in a foreign language I find myself concentrating on the subtitles more than what's actually going on on screen.

Received my AC Valhalla Collector's edition today. Nice and on time! Then about an hour later I receive a mail from Ubisoft saying that they can't guarantee that the game will get there on time because of problems with logistics and they now offer a 20% discount on my next purpose as a means to say sorry (or more likely get me to buy more stuff lol)
Still a nice guesture. A lot of things do take much longer to ship these days.

Since it was possible to play the game from midnight on I gave it a little spin... The scenery definitely looks great: the mountains, trees, the snow, the fjords... Damn I wanna go there, even though I'm not a fan of snow. Combat's got a different feel too compared to AC Odyssey and AC Origins that is. Sometimes I find Eivor lashing out at an enemy who's no longer in the space they used to occupy. Clever enemy AI makes them better at dodging attacks. Meanwhile, my dodging attempts are pretty crappy. Need to do something about the keybindings I think. Can't say too much about it storywise. There's drama and all, but so far I find it less compelling than AC Odyssey. Then again I haven't played that long and didn't have any choices to make yet.
Also, playing this game in 4K is definitely too much for this PC to handle AC Odyssey was still playable for me, but the average frame rate in this game's about 24 fps. No sudden major drops in frame rates at least, but still...
I guess I'll be reverting to 2560x1440 pixels from now on. Some none spoilery screenshots:
Kinda looks familiar...

24 fps... Very cinematic. Doesn't sound like it would run that great even at 1440p (when maxed out). Since I have 165Hz screen, I'd ideally play closer to 100 fps than 0. Personally I've found AC games to play better with game pad - less clunky that way. Of course aiming would be worse but in most AC games it was melee only.

I'm sure I said it before: I'm happy if I get a solid screen rate of 30 FPS at least.
Also must have mentioned at one point that controllers and me don't mix. The only game that worked better for me with a controller was Syberia 3. Aiming's one of the major issues I have with controllers.

Average frame rate went up to 43 FPS after reverting to 2560x1440 pixels. This is with most settings maxed out. The only settings that aren't maxed out are Shadows and Volumetric Clouds. Turned those two down a notch.

Generally speaking AC games haven't had long range weapons that require careful aiming but combos and dodging/blocking/deflecting which worked really well with controller. Obviously aiming with bow would be better with mouse. To me the bottom end is at 40 fps. It's still much better than 30 fps and semi acceptable with adaptive sync monitor. Anything lower than that though and things get too cinematic.

Eh?
Some people who don't like AC Valhalla? Here's to hoping things don't escalate

Well, that turned out to be a hoax...
Meanwhile, having played AC Valhalla for a bit: The biggest thing that irks me is that you can't exactly track any of the side quests you started. The only thing the "quest menu" tracks seems to be the main quest. Very annoying.
At this point I still prefer AC Odyssey.

There appears to be quite many bugs and glitches. Might take a patch or two... Maybe they improve things too.

Encountered one annoying issue so far with textures not loading properly near some in-game anomaly/puzzel.
Biggest annoyance is not to be able to track any minor quests. I really hope they implement this. I also wish that your raven companion's a bit more active like Ikaros was.
One thing that is an improvement is that you can gather materials while you're still on your horse. Fingers crossed.
That said. I do like the game, but it could be better.

Hmmm... Valhalla's just had a new update. About 4.30 GB. Hope this helps. Glad it wasn't bigger since I've only got about 60 GB's of disk space left lol
