Yes... I can’t believe it myself… Never been bothered about politics this much...
So the other day I went to vote in the local elections to determine which political parties get a seat in the council of our municipality.
Just to give you an incline of the size: in 2021 my municipality had a population of 50.500, which is spread over several villages.
Only nine parties were participating in the elections. Three of which are local parties.
Of the remaining six parties three of them currently hold seats in our national government. The remaining three parties are part of the opposition in the House of Representatives.
Up until a few days ago the biggest party in my municipality, was the SGP, a party with strong reformed Christian values, currently part of the opposition in my country's House of Representatives.
Up until 2013 women weren’t even allowed to be on their election list…
They do strongly oppose the covid measures and QR crap though.
Now two of the local parties have made quite a bit of progress since the elections in 2018.
The current number one party, a local party, managed to get more votes than the SGP, which now got them the same number of seats as the SGP currently holds.
Another local party (which I voted for) managed to get enough votes to make them the number 4 party in our elections. They are affiliated with a party that currently has one seat in the House of Representatives: the BBB: a Farmer/Citizen movement.
The number one party in national government lost a seat in my municipality. Wish it was more.
They actually went door to door to try and get people vote for them. One of the items on their flyer was building a parking garage underneath the local hospital…
Really???
How about spending this money on actual healthcare???

And I strongly agree with most of this party's points.
The main thing: being against division. The number one party in national government lost a seat in my municipality. Wish it was more.

Btw I got to work at this hospital's lab for a while as part of some government program at the time. That was like 25 years ago.
Still have fond memories of that and if I had been able to stay I wouldn't have minded that at all.
