Definitely starting to look less kitten like. Not a pet but adorable: My nephew has been growing nicely too.

Latest news on the kittens is that the kittens were sterilized/castrated last week. The cattery owner told me that if there aren't any issues they could move this Saturday I'm working this weekend, but I'm hoping I'll be able to pick them up Tuesday next week. After that I've planned some time off from work. Close to two weeks to see how the kittens will behave when they're here. Pretty much bought all the stuff I need for the kittens. New toys, a brand new litter bin, scratching furniture, a scratch barrel and two cat beds Also bought 4 kg's of dry food from the pet store. Probably better to order it online though... The cattery owner recommended to feed them fresh meat for at least the next 6 months, so I've ordered that as well. Ordered 30x200g of beef mix online. That was delivered yesterday and now occupies an entire drawer in my refrigerator This is the drawer I usually store my bread in... Will have to see how that goes. Don't really fancy buying a freezer just for the cat food.

Alas! I didn't get to pick them up today Was notified last week that Shep (the male kitten) is a bit behind on the growing curve. Cattery owner mentioned that this could be related to his castration, but she wants to make sure both kittens are doing okay before they're able to move to their new homes. Despite my growing impatience it's something I can agree with. In her situation I'd also want to be sure that both kittens were perfectly fine before sending them off to their new homes. Someone asked if I couldn't just pick up the female kitten first, but I'm not sure that would be a preferable situation. Seems better to have them move in together and explore the house together. And not one establishing his/her territory before the other kitten moves in? EDIT: Just contacted the cattery owner and asked how both kittens were doing. Both are doing well now: Shep's been eating again and has grown a bit. He's also been playing again! I now have an appointment to pick them up tomorrow afternoon

The kittens have arrived They both spent most of the time hiding behind the couch and under the table. It wasn't until I got out their food until Shona came out of her hiding place. Shortly followed by the other. They haven't eaten yet, but at least they've now started to explore the living room a little and have shown some interest in their toys. Shep has also used the litter box already. So that's looking good.

Progress today. Both kittens ate most of the food I gave them this morning. There were more bouts of playing and chasing eachother around. Now they're tired againand sleeping. They both started allowing me to pet them a little too Shona's the shyest of the two though, but we're getting there.

Both kittens made their way upstairs today. One of them was halfway up the stairs a few days ago, but I figured it was too soon. Now they both made their way. Shep first, Shona a bit later. I tried blocking their access to 2nd floor though. Don't fancy them going there just yet since it's an open staircase. My ingenious idea was to leave my bathroom door open completely and secure it with a belt:

They are cute. And quiet and things seem to be going well. They both come up to meet me now when I enter the living room in the morning, while at first they just stayed where they were lying until I got their food ready for them. Shep even lets me pick him up without struggling now, but that's probably because I've had to handle him a few times to clean the area around his left eye. Shona still struggles whenever I pick her up, but at least she lets me pet her. Patience... Oh and the best thing I can even eat my food without them trying to steal it from me Smokey would be all over me if I was eating, so I always had to keep him in another room if I wanted to have dinner in peace lol Well, as I feared, blocking the stairs to the 2nd floor didn't help. Someone made her way up to the 2nd floor last night and the other one did so today. At least they both seem to be careful enough going up and down the stairs (for the time being). That is like a 7 cm gap. I need to fatten them up Despite that I left the door to the living room open they still seem to prefer to be downstairs though. If I go to bed or leave home I make sure they're in the living room for the time being. I've also left them alone a couple of times for several hours. That seemed to be going well, so I guess it's safe to leave them home alone once I go back to work on Monday. EDIT: My sister is coming over on Friday to meet the kittens So, I've ordered food from a really nice local restaurant. My sis will be staying over for the night because of the crappy curfew. Speaking of curfews: a while ago I received a new letter from work that states I have a crucial profession in a vital process in case of another lockdown. Very proactive, but alas. Bureaucracy prevails and employers now have to provide their employees with a certain form. Employees themselves also have to fill in a form. Still haven't received said form from my employer though. Guess it means I can stay home whenever I'm working a late shift?

Yesterday was my first day back at work since I picked up the kittens. This meant they had to spend at least 9 hours on their own. Seemingly everything went well when I returned from work yesterday.
Today was a different story though. When I returned home from work one of the kittens had pooped just in front of the litter box, which was rather full, so one litter box isn't going to cut it. I guess I'll be seeing if I can re-use Smokey's old litter box for the time being. I'm considering buying one of these self-cleaning robot litter boxes though. A bit of an investment, but seemingly much more convenient.
The best thing that happened today was that Shona actually carried one of her toys all the way up from the living room to my office on the first floor of my home. So cool!

awww... yeah it can happen. I heard they are really picky with litter boxes. So if you are a lo9nger time away this self cleaning things ( if they work ) could be worth it

Using Smokey's old litter box as well seems to be going well for the time being. At least there have been no more accidents.
I know the cattery owner has one of these self-cleaning litter boxes, so I sent her a message about her experience with it. And I've a colleague whose son has good experiences with them.
Just got a reply from the cattery owner. She said she mostly had good experiences with it, so I guess I'll give it a shot.
