It sucks really *hugs*
Here it is getting worse, too. The Physio Praxis my Hubby is in, closed for at least 2 weeks, also his Gymn for the treadmill exercise he needs. We talked how we handle the situation and now we plan following things to filling the hole a little and help him through. 1.) Sort of Fango with warm covers 2.) Massage 3.) some exercises I can help him with and assist
As long as the weather is nice we can do a daily walk, but it can not replace the steadiness, smooth pace of the treadmill.

I hope those measures do help it make easier for your husband at least. I guess the worst thing is not knowing. For all I know it could be a simple cold or a case of the seasonal flu, which is apparently also resurfacing again even though it was said to be officially gone about a month ago. Would be nice to know what it is, because if it's just a cold or the seasonal flu then it would be less bad to actually go out there and hunt for my groceries myself. At least I still have 77 rolls of toilet paper atm PHEW! And just so you know I didn't hoard it

Did I ever say that ? I think a lot about you and being with you in my thoughts. Your situation is so difficult now. Is there no possibility to find out if it is only a normal cold / flu ? No doc on phone ? Or any other help ? I remember as I started this thread I had already the feeling this will go out of hand soon, but I wish I would have been wrong.

You didn't, but I'm covering my ass anyway Currently we're not supposed to call a doctor unless your symptoms worsen. They also stopped testing everyone with mild symptoms, because the labs can no longer handle it. This is what you get for cutting costs on healthcare. They let hospitals go bankrupt, but banks have to be saved
Oh in case I can't order any groceries online maybe I could make some of these recipes? Link

Maybe with the right spices But to be honest I expected a bit more variety. Not a single recipe with rice or Kartoffeln. Or recipes with Currywurst or Kartoffelsalat I am disappointed. Btw managed to place an order for groceries at a local store yesterday. The order was delivered today. Except they delivered two more crates of things that I didn't order So I gave the store a call to let them know. They had most of the things I wanted and the things they didn't have they had a replacement article for

Great news - finally you got something - even more as you needed Maybe a discount ? The cold remains at the same state as you had at weekend ? I hope so and send a virtual hug Here it is very quiet , so unusual strange quiet. The nearby elementary school is closed and no kids laughing and rampaging around.

Not even a discount or a bottle of wine for my trouble 20 minutes after I called the store the delivery guy came back to pick up the two crates and the empty crate. Ah well, I'm grateful that I'll be able to cook some more meals. Still some things remain hard to find, so now the government has decided that stores may only provide a maximum of three packs of paracetamol and other over-the-counter medicines. But also things like toilet paper. Kind of a ridiculously high limit though, since 1 pack of paracetamol contains 50 tablets. Well, my voice is now starting to go a little at this point, so no more talking to myself. Funny, my mom mentioned this too: my parents live one block away from an elementary school and now it's no longer a nuisance with all the parents coming to drop off and pick up their kids twice a day. Also thanks and a *virtual hug back* at least I haven't heard of it sending along any computer viruses.

Schools are closed, max 10 people can gather, borders will get closed (you can get out and Finns can return though -> two week self quarantine though). Elderly people should go in self quarantine. There's been hoarding but looks like it's over now after the initial craze. Where I live things aren't obvious at all but in Helsinki central it should be pretty obvious. One of my work team mate had "a flu" - could have been the thing or just normal one. Impossible to say. I luckily didn't get anything (even though he sits next to me). By the way, I have one and 2/3 rolls of WC paper.

You're running rather low on it then, Tup Make sure to use only one sheet at a time, then it will last you longer! Or maybe you could even cut it in half! Btw the Folding@Home project (which has nothing to do with folding your laundry btw) goes way back. Now it allows you to use your PC's processing power (currently GPU only) to run simulations on COVID-19 proteins in order to find sites in the protein where a drug can possibly bind.
A more detailed description of what the program is about can be found here: Folding@Home
So if you're PC's running idle at times and you'd like it to do something worthwhile this is something to consider.

Tup Or you can use daily papers GroundSquirrel - I use germicide on the PC ... No Virus has a chance to get through Btw I did hear today that WHO isn't sure about Ibuprofen - it could be endanger infected people even more. I wonder if now starts the run on Paracetamol and Diclofenac

ladyaly : Well, that's a relief then! Btw I read the same thing about Ibuprofen the other day. Something about it affecting the alveoli making it more easy for the virus to attach itself. I wonder if it would be wise to replace Ibuprofen with Diclofenac though. Since they both fall under the same category of pain meds/anti-inflammatory drugs? In any case they recommended using Paracetamol instead. Btw this social distancing is fun... I read that some supermarkets have used tape on the floor so that while you're waiting in line for the cash register you can keep 1.5 m distance. This is all fine of course, but if you've got quite a few groceries it might take you some time to put them all in your bag. But if the next customer only has a few items he'll be standing right next to you in no time to put their groceries in their bag. So, after you've paid for your groceries the 1.5 m distance rule no longer applies apparently ladyaly : Also this latest graph from the map you linked to on the first page shows quite an interesting trend when you look at the number of cases reported by date in China. Wonder what happened yesterday and today. Did someone make a typo yesterday and tried to correct their mistake today?

I have no Idea - I never trusted the Numbers China did report btw.
In Germany we have no more then 11000 cases and just 30 minutes ago Angela Merkel did speak to the public. This is unparalleled in germans history. Its the biggest challenge we face since the second world war. Its possible we face soon Millions of infected if we do not follow the rules.
I think the distance rule is a problem in supermarkets and groceries for sure.
How are you holding up ?

You're running rather low on it then, Tup Make sure to use only one sheet at a time, then it will last you longer! Or maybe you could even cut it in half! I'm good for at least one month. Single package would be good for about one year (thus I don't understand the hoarding - especially since paper supply is hardly and issue here). Btw this social distancing is fun... So, after you've paid for your groceries the 1.5 m distance rule no longer applies apparently Ever seen Finns waiting a bus? In normal situations there's easily 1,5m distance around people (when possible). One inside, you take place that is as far as possible from other people. We are good at keeping distance so there hasn't been anything like that here. Currently there are 359 cases here, zero deaths. There are estimates that the real number could be 20-30 times higher since not all cases are tested.

Maybe not all the numbers, but the fact that they took rather drastic measures probably accounts for something. Btw I read somewhere that the sudden peak in new cases around February 13 was due to China changing the way they count their cases. They started to include people who showed all of the symptoms of the virus, but weren't tested and those they believed were falsely tested negative.
Building that hospital in 10 days, temporarily cutting off the gas and electricity supplies so people couldn't go to work probably helped.
South Korea's approach also seems rather effective. Their graph shows the same trend I guess they started to take serious measures as soon as possible. They also started testing people for the virus as quickly as possible and every citizen can get themselves tested for free. In short they seem very well prepared.
Over here they're blabbering that there aren't enough tests to test everyone.
As for me I had a bit of an off-day today. Feeling stressed, and the stuffed nose is back too. Also called my sis, because my mom told me she's feeling under the weather as well. Except she has muscle pain and headaches too.
Got a call from a colleague as well. Asked me how I was (although I don't have to tell him exactly). Thought it was strange that he called, but apparently my supervisor is sick as well. In any case he also told me about some of the measures they took at work. Now the shifts are working with 2 people instead of 3 in the early shift and the late shifts is done by 1 person. One of our plants is down, so this makes it easy to apply a measure like this.
